Zahradnický postižený happening: Eri Mrtva/Residency work-in-progress
The happening begins with a reading of an imaginative text exploring crip ecologies. We will examine how the pressure for speed might change if we all became flowers, and how the support a landscape needs to preserve its biodiversity is not so different from the support communities must provide one another to truly welcome marginalized groups. The project reflects on why we might carry a dog with a sore paw in a stroller, yet expect a person with aching legs to overcome their challenges without assistive devices. It asks why trees skillfully grow around the very “disabilities” that we so often try to hide. Does it even make sense to uphold the standard of a “healthy body” within a wounded landscape?
The event will combine a reading of the text written during the co.labs residency with a creative session where we will craft our own “flower characters” – figures that challenge the idea that human value is tied to the ability to work. The gathering will conclude with a collective planting and space for growth.
