Artist Talk with Eva Vaňová

25. 4.  15.00  Reading Room, Faculty of Art, Masaryk university

What does the city look like through children’s eyes? What will appear on a map created based on their experiences? And can we understand this perspective?

Eva Vaňová will present the participatory project “Mapping Through Children’s Eyes,” which she has been developing since 2021 in various communities in Košice and Brno. Together with children, she creates personal maps of places, relationships, and experiences, which she then transforms into textile images that convey children’s imagination and a unique artistic expression.

During the artist talk, she will discuss the process of collaborating with children and the search for her own artistic identity during her studies. She will also address how art schools shape one’s relationship to participatory art and what potential participation holds in contemporary artistic practice.

The program will conclude with a group visit to the exhibition Mapping Through Children’s Eyes: Traces, Objects, and Images of Cejl.

We apologise to English-speaking visitors; the artist talk will be held in Czech.
If you have any questions about the project, you will have the opportunity to ask the artist after the program concludes.
